Zammuto History
The Zammuto Points Table
The
Zammuto Points Table was originally built by Peter Zammuto, the late
brother of Jim Jodie's mother, Angela (Zammuto) Jodie. Peter built the
table as a young man, sometime in the 1950s-1960s, and it stood
innocently in the basement of the Jodie household for many years.
That is, until one day, when it was given to Jim Jodie by his parents.
As original members of the Pargon League, Pat Higgins
and Jim Jodie were searching for an appropriate award to be given to the
winner of overall season points. Something not as glamorous or royal as
the Pargon Cup, but one which represents the stability and
utilitarianism of an overall season points winner. When they found the
Zammuto Points Table, they knew they found their answer.
Jim and Pat decided that the table needed a look
worthy of the Pargon League, so they took it completely apart and
stripped it of its former varnish. Days and days passed, and layers and
layers of varnish were wiped away, birthing a new story for this simple
table. New stain was applied in the same way that the many
future stories of Pargon will be added to the table. It was then that
Pat and Jim asked for the help of an outsider, Paul Mrotek. With his
special skills, Paul engraved the name of the table into the bottom
shelf of the table. Soon after, Paul was also asked to join the Pargon
League as an official member. After the engraving, a final wipe down and
a small ceremony, only then was it fit to be what it was destined to
be: the Zammuto Points Table.
